The Connecticut Architecture Foundation Distinguished Leadership Award

The Connecticut Architecture Foundation’s Distinguished Leadership Award was instituted in 2003, the year it was bestowed upon Richard Levin, then Yale University president.

Today, the CAF Distinguished Leadership Award honors an individual or pair of architects for outstanding professional achievements, dedication to advancing architectural education, and inspiring and mentoring future generations of architects.

In 2012, the CAF and the University of Hartford collaborated for the first time in making the award presentation and lecture part of a shared fund-raising event. A portion of the event’s proceeds support the Connecticut Architecture Foundation’s grants and scholarships; and a portion supports three University of Hartford Scholarships:  The David N. LaBau Memorial Architecture Endowed Scholarship; the Frederick J. Mahaffey Memorial Endowed Scholarship; and the Tai Soo Kim Master Class Scholarship.

Tai Soo Kim, FAIA was honored last year as the CAF’s 2025 Distinguished Leadership Award recipient.

The 2026 Distinguished Leadership Awardee is Joeb Moore, FAIA.  His lecture will be at 5pm on April 23rd, at the University of Hartford Harry Jack Gray Center.
